Two Jets to come and that's a wrap. 19:15 Top Fuel Dragster licencing Kevin Chapman 14.3361/41.59 bye Fourth pass for Kevin, this one again scheduled for 330 feet we were told. Another perfect burnout. Tyre shake and then up in smoke at the hit, motor screaming. 1.2938 to sixty with tyres hourglassing. A pedal then back on it again, tyres straight back up in smoke and the dragster turned right, off the gas about 300 feet out. 19:05 VW Pro qualifying session 3 PB for Ed Keech in the first pair I believe. #12 to #4 for Paul Jordon with his new Polo. Next pair and Ian Dale moved up from #11 to #7. Natalie Wood and Dave Bridge side-by-side up the ladder #12 to #5 and #9 to #1 respectively, Dave at +0.0030.

More paired red lights then Aaron Fensome up from #14 to #9 and Morgan Wilson up from #17 to #13. -0.0086 and -0.0050 reds for Kaitlan Deevey and Frankie Fordham, close thing but minus signs are minus signs. #23 to #13 for Archie Wray for going right side. -0.0094 squeaker for Thomas Cook-Abbott next pair. Liam McDonald back in the Santa Pod Junior Stock Dragster this session, registered an RT then the car stopped a couple of feet out. Billy Everitt up from #20 to #5 next pair. #20 obviously a good springboard as Jordan Payne went from there to #7 next pair.

18:40 Outlaw Flat Four qualifying session 2 Big improvement for Mark Pascoe but stayed #2. Looked like a jump out of gear for Mark Eltringham's Karmann, got it back eventually. A sweep of Mark P's lane past the start line and a check and sweep and sled of Mark E's lane from 1000 feet to the finish line. On the restart a great wheelie for Vito Versluys.

Next pair and Paul Jordan up from #15 to #8 and Paul Herbert from #3 to #2. #8 spot then taken over by Ian Dale from #11. Great move for James Gould, #15 to #1 in one fell swoop +0.0501. That lasted one pair, very aggressive-sounding launch for Sam Levett and up to #1 at +0.0397. One place up the ladder for Sam Young, the electric Beetle gently inching up on it. Natalie Wood up from #13 to #10 next run then Dave Bridge up from #13 to #7 to close the session.

VW Sportsman qualifying session 2 #1 qualifier Aaron Beales came up to collect his £75 Eurodragster.com Perfect ET Award supporting Bloodwise and told us that as well as redlighting on that run he had spin in two gears and decided just to nail it to the end of the track. Works for me... or more accurately Aaron. Russ Weir first to make a big move, up from #14 to #7. Scott Mills up from #17 to #8 outdone in the other lane by Daniel Piggott up from #21 to #4 at +0.0718. Next pair and Phil Blogg up from #21 to #7. Jon Crawford with a move for his own and class sponsor Engine Carbon Clean, up from #14 to #8. Carl Goldsmith having broken his VW Pro race car now driving his street car in VW Sportsman. In at #17.

Martin Hill closed out qualifying cycle 1 with a 6.9305/162.45 checkout pass in the Fireforce 4 Jet FC. Now a brief break whilst we collect classes for Q2. 17:15 Sportsman ET qualifying session 1 Super Comp and Super Gas racer and previous Champion Pete Creswell not in his Mustang but one of his sons' Fiesta. Perfect 0.0005 RT for Pete wins him the Eurodragster.com / Bad Habit Racing Perfect Light Award, well done Pete! Next pair and Elaine Hancock into #1 at +0.0275. Gill and Alan Medley both in late-model Mustangs, Gill breaking out with we think a new PB 12.8860 on 13.05 dial-in. Eurodragster.com Photographer Kirstie a bit urgent on the Tree, breakout also. New PB for Felicity Gibbs in the other lane. Nick Hale usually a Topspeed Automotive Street Eliminator shut off at half track. Shanon Kiddell in Gordon Northway's pick-up, capable of much quicker than 12.40 but backed right down and pretty close to dial-in given the circumstances. So Pete Creswell takes the money and out-qualifies his sons. All he has to do now is to make it up the stairs to our office.

17:05 Lucas Oil Junior Dragster qualifying session 1 Liam McDonald is in a new car, his first outing was in the RWYB earlier on today. The car the Half Scale dragster which he raced at the Eastern Conference Finals at Thunder Valley in the USA (where he also promoted Santa Pod Raceway and Eurodragster.com with a huge banner, thank you). The car was taken out of its crate for the first time here at Santa Pod Raceway yesterday and Liam would like to say a big Thank You to Donna Finnegan, Darren Prentice and Martin Hill for their help with the unpacking. This will be Liam's first full year in Lucas Oil Junior Dragster as he missed three events last year. Great package for Ruaridh Hart +0.0024 and +0.0061 on dial-in, had a go at the Eurodragster.com / Bad Habit Racing Perfect Light Award. Another tilt at the money by Kaitlan Deevey at +0.0081. Close but no cigar for Jack Gooding, three zeroes but a minus sign in front of them at -0.0007. In fact quite a lot of red lights in the session particularly paired; one racer making the other go I guess.

16:50 Outlaw Anglia qualifying session 1 I don't know if photographer and Outlaw Anglia webmaster Callum Pudge is at the track but either way great job on the web site mate. Double-step off the line for Cliff but still well into the seves, meanwhile in the other lane Ginner did his Van as Fuel Altered act trying to write his name on the track. Move to the right for Steve Wells but stayed with it, another move to the right and he got off the gas. Pete's motor did not start, lots of fussing around the car whilst the next pair ran. Great openers for Mick and Colin, Colin taking a long way round whilst a straight run for Mick. No reverse for Jedd Guy, quickly drove down the track to get out of Dave's way. Looked like a PB or close to it for Dave judging by the reaction around the start area. Meanwhile Pete had jumped back in the car and made it round for the next pair. Very squirrely run for Pete but stayed with it, in the other lane looked like a planned early shut-off for Rob.

Sam Young's first competitive pass with the refettled Black Current electric Beetle, a brief step to one side past 3000 feet but he stayed with it.

Lots of sun, some cloud, very mild. A very gentle right-to-left breeze, in fact a lovely spring day. For fans of trivia the tips of the blades on the turbine nearest to us are travelling at 88 mph or so.
